IMO/ REMPEITC/ GI-WACAF Related Projects

Dr. Elliott Taylor has been involved as an oil spill expert and facilitator in dozens of IMO / REMPEITC / REMPEC / GI-WACAF related activities including workshops on National Contingency Planning and Implementation of the OPRC Convention, the use of RETOS, and IMO training.

Highlighted Projects

Central and Eastern Mediterranean (Virtual), 7-8 September, October, and 23 November 2021

Contracted by REMPEC as the expert to facilitate and instruct the Central and Eastern Mediterranean countries on the use of the ARPEL RETOSTMv2.1 Excel tool and associated documents for undertaking national-level workshops on assessing each country’s oil spill response capabilities and gap analyses. The virtual series encompasses two plenary sessions (initial and concluding) and one-on-one working sessions with representatives from each country to gain practical skills in undertaking the assessment and evaluation of their national oil spill response program.

Anguilla & St. Maarten (Virtual) 19-21 October 2021

Contracted as an oil spill expert and facilitator for a National Workshop on Contingency Planning and Implementation of the OPRC Convention organized by the IMO RAC REMPEITC – Carib. A key activity for the workshop entailed training and use of ARPEL’s Response/Readiness Assessment Tool for Oil Spills (RETOS v.2.1) and Manual to evaluate the national oil spill preparedness and to identify prioritized opportunities for improvement and a planned path forward through a Global Improvement Program.

Contracted as the expert to facilitate and instruct the Western Mediterranean countries on the use of the ARPEL RETOSTMv2.1 Excel tool and associated documents for undertaking national-level workshops on assessing each countries oil spill response capabilities and gap analyses. Sponsored through The Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operation (DG ECHO) under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism with the support of the Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC).
