ARPEL Oil Spill Response Planning and Readiness Assessment Manual and its Readiness Evaluation Tool for Oil Spills (RETOS™) Version 2.0

Elliott Taylor (POLARIS), Miguel Moyano (ARPEL), and Alexis Steen (ExxonMobil) proudly launched the ARPEL Oil Spill Response Planning and Readiness Assessment Manual and its Readiness Evaluation Tool for Oil Spills (RETOS™) Version 2.0 during the 2014 International Oil Spill Conference (IOSC) held in Savannah. The RETOS v2 tool is now freely available from ARPEL web site (www.arpel.org) and provides users with enhanced functionality relative to the previous 2011 version. Building on the 2008 IOSC Guidelines “Assessment of Oil Spill Response Capabilities: A Proposed International Guide for Oil Spill Response Planning and Readiness Assessment”, the ARPEL Manual and RETOS v2 are meant to assist governments and companies in assessing their level of oil spill response planning and readiness management in relation to commonly agreed pre-established criteria considering international best management practices.
