Andy Graham M.S.
Marine Scientist

Mr. Graham is trained as a chemical oceanographer and is currently involved in scientific support for oil spill and ship grounding response relative to environmental damages and environmental injury assessment.

Following completion of his undergraduate degree in 1998, Mr. Graham worked in a chemical oceanography lab at the University of Washington (Seattle) for 2 years. He took part in several oceanographic cruises in the Pacific Ocean studying the dissolved gas chemistry of hydrothermal vents. In 2000, he started graduate studies at the University of Hawaii, where his research focused on dissolved methane gas in the open and coastal ocean from Mexico to Iceland.

Andy joined Polaris Applied Sciences, Inc. in April of 2003 after receiving his Masters degree. Mr. Graham provides scientific and technical support in the field, including but not limited to chemical, water and sediment sampling, coral reef assessment, Shoreline Cleanup Assessment Technique (SCAT) surveys, bathymetry work, and data analysis. He has responded to a variety of oil and chemical spills and ship groundings throughout the United States and the world. In addition to field support, Mr. Graham is the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and computer specialist for Polaris, utilizing GIS software to generate maps to aid emergency response operations and natural resource damage assessment studies.

Recent project work includes SCAT team leader for the Selendang Ayu oil spill on Unalaska, AK, scientific support for the Westwood Annette oil spill in Squamish, British Columbia and coral reef assessment and restoration of a ship groundings in Ft. Lauderdale Florida, Oahu Hawaii, and Guayanilla Puerto Rico.
